FAQ

01. What is the typical flight time of a heavy-lift spraying drone?

Due to the massive energy required to lift 40-50 liters of fluid, heavy-lift models typically operate for 10-15 minutes per battery cycle. However, fast-charging hubs and battery cycling allow for continuous, uninterrupted field operations.

02. Do I need an aviation license to deploy these systems?

Yes. Commercial agricultural operations generally require a Part 107 (US), RePL/ReOC (Australia), or equivalent regional certification, along with specialized agricultural chemical dispensing permits.

03. How accurate is RTK positioning?

RTK (Real-Time Kinematic) systems offer a horizontal and vertical accuracy of ± 1-3 centimeters, drastically outperforming standard GPS modules which drift by up to 2-5 meters.

04. Can the sensors penetrate dense canopies?

Optical sensors measure reflectance on the upper canopy surface. For deeper penetration, downwash from the rotors during spraying forces chemicals below the canopy, while specialized radar maps the ground topology beneath the foliage.

05. What formats do mapping exports support?

Telemetry and mapping data export natively to GeoTIFF, SHP (Shapefiles), and KML formats, ensuring complete compatibility with leading farm management terminals (John Deere, Case IH, etc.).

06. Are operations affected by wind or rain?

Spraying must conform to local drift regulations, generally capping operations at 15-20 km/h wind speeds. Drones feature IP67 ratings resisting light rain, but optical mapping requires clear, consistent lighting conditions for accurate reflectance data.

07. How does NDVI calculate plant stress?

It calculates the ratio between red light (absorbed by chlorophyll) and near-infrared light (reflected by healthy cell structures). Stressed plants reflect less NIR and absorb less red light, altering the ratio.

08. What is the standard payload capacity?

Modern mapping drones carry up to 2kg of sensor arrays. Applicator drones range from 10L up to 50L payload capacities, utilizing quick-swap tanks for rapid refilling.
